Tourist House
The radius of the pavilion is proportional to the radius of the memorial. The serpentine road Kaiserstrasse“, the new visitor center and the Emperor- Wilhelm- Memorial are part of a presentation which culminates in the vast open view above the Weser Valley.
The house is conceived as a pavilion. The floating form mediates between parking, street and landscape.
The dark asphalt surface of the parking lot with its white markings passes through the pavilion. The white markings inside are a reference to the street outside.
The reflection in the concave aluminum facade somewhat distorts the natural image. The house is indistinguishable from certain perspectives. From other angles, it seems particularly artificial and stands out from the surroundings. The visitor center is accessed through a courtyard. The facade at the narrowest crossing point into the courtyard is still mirrored and then develops into a large glass facade.
The patio is a unique place, where one can glimps the memorial over the pavilion facade.Maybe even glimmers of spring days, when the forest still has no leaves, the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument can be seen through the trees.
