The project was developed for an art competition for the Ruhr 2010. The A 59 is a city motorway in Duisburg. The location we chose was a bridge which connected a coal mine with a blast furnace of a steel mill.

After the coal mine closed, the steel bridge was removed. Only the concrete foundations remained.

For this location we created two swimming pools 3,50m by 25,0m. The wall which is adjacent to the motorway is made of glass. Next to the pool stands a shipping-container with bathrooms and changing rooms. The roof of the container has a lawn and a view onto the industrial landscape.
